The Fun Bits Find a New Home!

Inside the Fun Bits Studio

Originally created deep within the heart of the Pike Place Market, the Fun Bits are “movin’ on up, to the East Side…”

As we leave our bunker here on Post Alley, there are many things that we will miss; the aroma of freshly brewed beer, the musicians infront of the original Starbucks, the delicious stream of pippin’ hot donuts , dodging flying fish on our way to lunch and of course the minty smell of the Seattle Gum Wall outside our front steps.

But as one chapter ends, another begins. We are very excited to grow our Production Studio beyond our current size and into a much bigger and more creative space down in historical Pioneer Square. Our new home is a fantastical place where you can buy a kilt, see a magic mouse, ride a duck, cheer for a Seahawk or go on an underground tour with a Gyro in one hand and a Philly Cheesesteak in the other.

Maybe some of you would like to come join us on this wonderful new adventure? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Its Pumpkin in My Belly Time!

Pumpkins are cropping up all over the lands of Fat Princess!

There’s something new growing in the world Fat Princess and its not just dress sizes!

If you jump into an online game of Fat Princess anytime now through the end of November,  you will see how much our beloved Princesses love to eat pumpkins during the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays!

From all of us here at Fun Bits, Happy Halloween.

Note: If anyone has a Fat Princess themed costume this year, we’d love to see it! Send any and all costume pics to social@funbits.com

Two Princesses, One Year – Happy Birthday Fat Princess!

Click the cake to hear the  “Castle Intruder” song!

Our beloved Fat Princess has reached her 1st Anniversary!

We’re proud to celebrate this occasion by having Sony slice a few dollars off the price of Fat Princess, down to $7.49 as part of the Summer Sale on the PlayStation Network. Grab it fast since the sale ends on Tuesday, 8/10. We’re also whooping it up by releasing our very first Fat Princess single: Castle Intruder!

Fat Princess has been a labor of love for the development team here at Atomic Operations and our good friends in Santa Monica Studio, and it has been a highly rewarding experience for all of us to hear feedback from gamers around the world. We are constantly adorning our walls with Fat Princess fan art and jumping into games with clans online. We are reading the forums daily and we are always looking for ways to expand our Fat Princess world. (You do have the recently released Fat Roles DLC, right?

Thank you again and again to all the fans and clans who continue to spread the good word about the game. We are always amazed at the effort our fans put into supporting and growing the community, and we want you all to know how much we appreciate it.

Happy Birthday to Princess Plump and Princess Muffintop from the entire Fat Princess team!

- Ao

Note:  Atomic Ops would like to give a special thanks and shout out to Antoine Dodson and The Gregory Brothers for the “Castle Intruder” inspiration.

Fat Princess @ Casual Connect 2010

Mundy and Millar Discuss Development Issues and Successes at Casual Connect 2010

July 20, 2010 – Seattle, WA.  John Mundy and Chris Millar presented “Cake 4 Everyone,”  the behind-the-scenes story of production challenges and successes during Fat Princess development. The Founders Room was full of game developers, fans and publishers; all attending to learn more about the initial inception of Fat Princess (once called “Siege”) through it’s developmental evolution.

The talk covered the Dev Team’s “play, refine, repeat” strategy and how it helped to evolve Fat Princess from a casual 12-player online cooperative game to the 32-player class-based battle royale we have today. We also covered our goals behind “Free DLC” for the fans along with the tremendous fan support that helped fuel the creation and ultimate release of the Fat Roles DLC.

Two weeks away from our one year anniversary of Fat Princess’ release, it is awesome to look back at the growth of this game; from the tiny first glimpse at E3 2008 during the Sony Keynote, through the continued sales success of FP today. It has been a fantastic journey and we’re keen on continuing forth to create great games for our fans.
